Racial Equity at WHS

WHS Administration's Statement on Anti-Racism:

We value racial diversity at Washburn, and we assert that valuing different cultures does not mean just tolerating or accepting our differences; it means embracing our differences as an important part of what makes a great community. 

 

Washburn staff will strive to continue to learn and grow in our understanding of institutional racism and the ways that we can dismantle it at Washburn and beyond. We commit to look for ways that white supremacy has shown up in our school and to work to eliminate it. 

 

We commit to teach the truth of our history. We commit to work together with students & families to ensure that education at Washburn is meaningful for all students, and to intentionally prepare students for an anti-racist future.  

 

We know this is a journey, and we will make mistakes along the way. We will hold each other able and support each other as we all learn and grow together.
