Miller Mart

The Miller Mart is a school store open during lunch to sell snacks, drinks and spiritwear.  The Mart also sells spirit wear during big events like homecoming and 8th grade orientation and has an online store once per year in November.  A committee of parent volunteers, assistant principal Mr. Aziz and student representatives oversee the Mart.  Parents volunteer in the Mart typically once per month for a 2.5 hour shift.  Parent volunteers do most of the administration of the Mart, including food and spirit wear purchasing, organizing, recruiting volunteers and financial aspects.

The profits from the Mart are given back to after school clubs, sports, and student initiatives via a grant process.  Grant forms can be completed at any time during the school year and submitted to the committee for approval during a monthly meeting. Please note that the fund is not for classroom trips or purchases.

Grants should focus on benefiting the entire team or club like (i.e purchasing equipment or paying for fees to a competition). Any purchased item should remain at Washburn for future use. Funds should not be used for items that will be given away (i.e. senior t-shirts for team members).  All requests should be student focused.  If possible, students should complete the grant form whenever possible then submitted by the adult coach or advisor. The committee reviews all grant proposals and funds are distributed through Lara in the main office.
